AUDADHAM
Audadham(ஒளடதம்), is a tamil word which means "medicine". In the realm of modern technology, "Audadham" aptly represents a pioneering website and app dedicated to preserving and disseminating tribal medicinal formulations and plants. This digital platform serves as a vital archive, safeguarding the rich, age-old practices and botanical wisdom of indigenous communities. By cataloging these traditional remedies, "Audadham" not only honors the heritage of tribal medicine but also makes this invaluable knowledge accessible to a broader audience, fostering a greater appreciation and understanding of natural healing practices in contemporary society.
FUNDING
Audadham is a DST funded project, under the title “Validation and digitization of indigenous medicinal knowledge of tribes of The Nilgiris, Namakkal, Thiruvannamalai and Tirunelveli districts, Tamil Nadu” (DST/SEED/TSP/STI/2020/333). It is a repository of ethnomedicinal knowledge meticulously gathered from the tribes of South India's Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Namakkal, and Thiruvannamalai districts.

Our extensive database includes information on 2,699 medicinal plant species—accounting for repetitions—and over 8,378 herbal formulations, all collected over the past two years(Mar 2022 - Mar 2024).
